Lessons in Gratitude
I’m thrilled to share that I taught my first Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing) class tonight at Richmond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Self-Defense Academy. I have too many people to thank – from all the brilliant coaches and training partners to all you inspiring (and in some cases absurdly athletic) friends – but above all I owe Eric Burdo a sincere thanks for giving me the opportunity to teach, let alone believing that I wouldn’t spend the entire class making fart jokes. I join my beloved sister and my parents in teaching in some form, so I do feel something deeply gratifying at play.
As for Muay Thai, the sport offers those who train one of the best forms of stress relief and full-body workouts possible. At Richmond BJJ we train hard together but we train with an emphasis on friendship, discipline, and learning. Everyone out there talking a big game about signing up to train I’d love for you to swing by.
