Real Madness: The Racket That Is the NCAA

What better time to learn more about the racket that is the NCAA than a night off from March Madness.

For years we’ve hated the BCS – albeit mainly out of self-interest (to see a tournament of the best teams, etc) – but the BCS is only a minor example of nonsense and corruption overseen by the NCAA and fellow administrators.

If you enjoy top-notch documentaries or care about college sports then check out < a href=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3057718/>Schooled: The Price of College Sports. It’s currently available on Netflix and only 80 minutes long. It will cause you to feel differently about March Madness, and much more for the players entertaining you.

Also. while I’m at it, I might as well praise UVA. More and more I value the lessons of my professors there, especially those who encouraged me to ask questions, to gather criticism, to not accept ‘the way things are’ being justification for the way things are.

Yes, it’s nice being an alum of a college who’s team happens to be in the Sweet 16; win or lose, I will not sweat it, nor will I take credit.

Besides, there is far more to life than worrying about sports. At least I think that’s what I learned there. That and Virginia Tech can eat my shit.
